State Capture and Political Abuse

State capture is a form of systemic political corruption in which private interests significantly influence a state’s decision-making processes to their own advantage. It goes beyond petty corruption and refers to a systemic abuse of state resources that gnaws away at checks and balances to the benefit of a ruling party. 

 

State capture always involves policy or legal changes through abuse of power in favor of private interests and against the public good
